Twenty years after high school graduation, Dan returned to those hallways as a high school social studies instructor with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Buena Vista University. As an educator, he has participated in many local and state level opportunities, including curriculum development, vertical alignment, professional learning communities, standardized testing review for content and bias issues, and multi-school coordination of courses and assessment.
He is entering his third year as facilitator of an area-wide consortium of Social Studies Instructors. One of the accomplishments of this consortium has been developing universally useable government tests mandated by the State for graduation. Dan has taught high school history courses in the traditional classroom in two public high schools and acted as a paraprofessional in a constructions trade course. Dan has also taught history courses online for the Mizzou K12 Online program.
While engaged in this online program he participated in creating curriculum for American History at the high school level. He is currently working towards a graduate degree in curriculum.
